Why Most Quit Smoking Programs Don’t Work

November 14th, 2011

If you are reading this, then you have probably figured out that it is time to quit smoking. Maybe, if you are like most people, you have tried to quit many times in the past and failed. Most people will fail on their first time, their second time, and many more times before they finally either find a way to do it once and for all, or they just give up and resolve to keep on smoking for the rest of their lives. The good news is, though, that if you are truly interested in learning how to get rid of the cigarettes, there are quit smoking programs available for you.

The problem with most quit smoking programs is that they all assume that you have made a firm decision to quit smoking. Most people haven’t when they first try. They may want to quit, but that doesn’t mean that they have decided to actually do it. Many people, when they quit the first time, do so only intending to resume smoking at a later date, usually planning on smoking fewer cigarettes, or just on a social basis. But, most of us can’t smoke just socially (once or twice a week, and only a few cigarettes at a time). Many of us succumb to the addiction of nicotine very quickly and once we have one cigarette, it is all but over.

Quit smoking programs like the nicotine patch or nicotine gum can work, but you have to be fully dedicated both to quitting smoking, and then to quitting the use of nicotine. After all, the only purpose of the patch and the gum is to provide you nicotine in another form. They do nothing to break your addiction to the drug. All they really do is get you used to not having something in your mouth or your hands.

As it happens, the most successful way to quit smoking is actually to just quit. Once you have made a conscious decision to quit smoking, and realize that there is no way that you want to go on with cigarettes as part of your life, you will find that quit smoking programs are pointless. The only one that really works is cold turkey – give it up once and for all. Patches, gums, pills, and all kinds of herbal techniques will never work until you actually decide to seriously quit once and for all.

Quit Smoking in Real Time

November 13th, 2011

It is never too late to give up smoking.

The sooner you can free your body from the constant punishment of smoking then the sooner it can recover from years of abuse. The body has amazing recuperative powers. Once you stop smoking, your body will show some immediate improvement as it adjusts to no longer having to accommodate smoking and its effects. The longer you have smoked, the more the body will have to overcome to return to a more natural, healthier state.

Quitting smoking at any time in one’s life is beneficial. Some people wait until they are ordered to do so by their doctor or surgeon but even the recuperative capacity of the body has its limits. You are much better advised to quit smoking before you develop any serious health problems. Generally speaking, giving up smoking makes your body healthier and increases the chances that you will stay that way.

Just 20 minutes after quitting there are health benefits, your body will begin to return to normal. Both your blood pressure and your pulse rate will have stabilised at a more natural level. Quit Smoking Now

November 13th, 2011

There are 1.1 billion smokers in the world today, although the number of people taking up the weed is declining. If you are one of the 1.1 billion, then you really must think carefully about your habit. Smoking causes the most horrible diseases and illnesses and it isn’t until you actually get one of these sicknesses that you realise just what you have done.

Quitting has never been easier. There are nicotine replacement therapies available for those who don’t want to experience withdrawal and cravings and hypnosis and acupuncture are both very popular. I started smoking 22 years ago and I wish I had never started, but don’t we all wish that? I finally gave up (for good) 8 months ago and it is going great. I used three nicotine replacement products, one for the ‘first cigarette of the day’ and two others combined and I can honestly say that I didn’t really experience major withdrawal or cravings.

It is hard when you crave what your body is yearning for, but these cravings last mere minutes, if not seconds and before you know it, you have forgotten that you are missing smoking. If you have attempted to quit smoking then you will know exactly what I am talking about. Think about it, is it worth contracting these terminal diseases just because you had a craving for a smoke? That is the big picture.

If you have been thinking about quitting smoking, I would say quit smoking now, there is no time like the present. Just look at the benefits if you quit smoking now:

  • Your circulation returns to normal, blood pressure and pulse rate are lower
  • You no longer stink of smoke
  • Your lung efficiency will improve and breathing is better
  • Your senses of taste and smell improve and food tastes better
  • Your phlegmy cough disappears and you don’t feel heavy in the chest any longer
  • Protect those around you as they no longer breathe secondhand smoke
  • Your children will not suffer from asthma or glue ear
  • Your energy levels and stamina increase
  • Your field of vision improves
  • Risks from diseases such as emphysema, heart attacks, vascular disease and cancer are reduced
  • Your emotions are returned to normal as you are no longer hooked on a habit
  • You reduce the risk of fertility problems, impotence, gum disease, tooth loss and osteoporosis
  • You are financially better off by 1200 if you smoked 20 cigarettes a day
  • The way people perceive you improves
  • Reduce complications during pregnancy for those wanting a family
  • You will develop a sense of pride having kicked the habit
  • Your skin tone and colour of your teeth improve and whites of eyes are brighter
  • Your home and car will smell fresher
  • You reduce the risk of causing fire in the home

How can you not quit smoking now? These are all very important reasons for quitting. You are able to quit smoking now because if I can do it, then you can definitely do it too. There are those that say ‘but I really enjoy smoking’. But what is there to enjoy, because the only reason why you want another cigarette is because your body is hooked and you can’t do without it. Is that a reason to continue?

You can quit smoking now, and avoid the many health problems that smoking brings, as well as save some money. I wish you good luck.

How To Quit Smoking With A Positive Mindset

When you want to quit smoking, nothing can be more important than having a positive mindset. Despite the methods, strategies and plan, you will not succeed if you view situations and circumstances negatively.

Only people with the most positive mindset will succeed in quitting smoking.

Some of the examples of people viewing situations or circumstances negatively are such as:

2. Some smokers think they cannot endure the suffering or pain to go through it.

4. Others may think quitting is like punishing themselves.

If you caught yourself having any of these thinking above, chances are you are being negative and will almost never to be successful in quitting.

Thus, you will need to stay extremely positive during this journey of giving up the cigarette for good.

Here are some positive approaches and affirmations that can assist you in quitting smoking.

3. You will be safe from the most preventable diseases in the world like lung cancer and you will be able to save quite a bit of money.

4. Your energy will increase and you will be able to be more productive and achieve more in a day.

5. You will smell good and never have to worry about stinking again.

6. You will stronger willpower and you have broken free from addiction.

There are also some other important aspects to prepare yourself to quit.

1. Plan ahead. Note down the resources you will need to give up smoking. Come up with a plan on how to handle both physical as well as psychological challenges.

2. Consult a doctor or physician for better methods and techniques such as acupuncture or laser therapy. You may want to consider nicotine replacement therapies if you really need to.

3. Look for alternative remedies such as herbs.

4. Seek for proven programs out there in the market. They may help you to stay on course during the difficult times.

Because you need to stay positive during quitting, choosing the right period to quit is also important. Do not choose periods when you are going through unusual stress or emotional turmoil such as losing a loved one.
